Assessments
Formal psychological and educational assessment, conducted in ASL by Deaf clinicians.
Assessment answers a specific question: what is actually going on, and what would help. It is a structured process — interviews, standardised measures, and a written report you can take to a school, an employer, a court, or another provider.
Conducted directly in ASL by a Deaf clinician. That matters more here than almost anywhere else in mental health: an assessment carried out through an interpreter measures the interpretation as much as the person, and Deaf people have been mislabelled for decades because of it.
Ask us what a particular assessment involves and how long it takes — the answer differs a great deal depending on the question being asked.
